Hyundai Steel Holds 59th Annual Meeting of Shareholders

On March 26, Hyundai Steel held its 59th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, at Harbor Park Hotel in Jung-gu, Incheon.

CEO Seo Gang-hyun, acting in his role as Chairman of the Board of Directors, took the opportunity to explain in person the previous year’s business performance and this year’s business objectives to the shareholders. He also enhanced communication with shareholders by directly answering pre-submitted and spontaneous questions from them.

In his opening remarks at the shareholders’ meeting, CEO Seo Gang-hyun stated, “Despite a challenging business environment due to weakened steel industry conditions caused by the global economic slowdown and rising raw materials and energy costs, we are committed to establishing a stable business foundation focused on profitability under the goal of being an environmentally friendly steel company capable of sustainable growth. We will also strive to realize our carbon-neutral roadmap and secure future growth drivers, reflecting changes in the industrial paradigm.”

During the subsequent communication session with shareholders, CEO Seo personally addressed a number of questions from shareholders regarding Hyundai Steel’s response strategy amidst the intensifying oversupply market, future shareholder returns plans, and strategies for future growth businesses. Through this interaction, he strengthened communication with shareholders and demonstrated a commitment to responsible management.

At the meeting, resolutions were passed on agenda items that included approval of financial statements, appointment of external directors and auditors, and approval of director compensation limits.

Head of the Financial Management Division, Kim Kwang-pyung (Senior Vice President) and Head of the Long Products Business Division, Sean Lee (Senior Vice President) were appointed as new internal directors. Additionally, Professor Cho Seung-ah (Theresa) of Seoul National University Business School took on the role of new external director.
