Worksites Conduct Volunteer Activities to Celebrate Chuseok

Hyundai Steel recently conducted volunteer activities at each of its worksites in celebration of the upcoming Chuseok holidays on September 29.

First, Dangjin Integrated Steelworks held a gift-sharing ceremony at Dangjin City Hall on September 12 and then carried out direct sharing activities on September 21. The ceremony was attended by 10 individuals, including the mayor of Dangjin and the chairperson of the Dangjin Welfare Foundation. Gift boxes and gift certificates worth USD 26,000 were distributed to low-income households and social welfare facilities in the local community.

The gift-sharing activities were conducted in a drive-thru format at Dangjin City Welfare Foundation Square on the morning of September 21. The volunteers distributed gift boxes that included local agricultural products such as Haenaru rice and Haenaru silchi. In the afternoon, they delivered Onnuri Gift Certificates and Dangjinsarang Gift Certificates to 32 welfare facilities affiliated with Dangjin Steelworks through the company’s partnership with Dangjin Traditional Market.

Incheon Works and Pohang Works also recently held Chuseok gift-sharing ceremonies. On the morning of September 18, Incheon Works held a gift-sharing ceremony at its research building, and Pohang Works held a similar ceremony at its Nam-gu Office. During the Incheon Works gift-sharing ceremony, attended by the plant’s head manager, the mayor of Incheon’s Dong District, and the chairperson of Incheon Community Chest of Korea, meal kits worth USD 9,500 were distributed to low-income households in Incheon’s Dong District. On September 20, the volunteers supported 10 welfare organizations in the Dong District with gift certificates worth a total of USD 7,500.

The gift-sharing ceremony held by Pohang Works was attended by the plant’s head of general affairs and the mayor of Pohang’s Nam District. During the ceremony, sets of essential goods were presented to 250 households and 19 senior citizens centers in sister villages, and gift certificates were presented to seven welfare facilities.

Ulsan Works delivered gifts for Chuseok to five senior citizens centers in Yeompo-dong in Ulsan’s Bukgu district. Ulsan Works volunteers prepared groceries worth USD 5,000, including rice and instant noodles, and delivered them to local senior citizens centers, conveying their holiday greetings to elderly residents. Suncheon Works also conducted a Chuseok gift-sharing ceremony on September 25, distributing sets of essential goods worth approximately USD 9,500 as Chuseok gifts to 150 households in sister villages.
