The Red Angels, Hyundai Steel’s women’s football team, dramatically captured first place in the 2023 WK League regular season.
On August 29, at the Incheon Namdong Stadium, the Red Angels defeated Seoul City WFC 6-0 in the 21st round of the 2023 WK League.
Hwacheon KSPO and Suwon FC, who were first and second in the WK League standings until the 20th round, faced off for the final regular match, ending in a 2-2 tie, earning the teams one point each. At the end of the final match, KSPO had 41 points (12 wins, 4 losses, 5 draws), while Suwon FC had 40 points (12 wins, 5 losses, 4 draws). The Red Angels ended up ranking 1st with a total of 42 points (13 wins, 5 losses, 3 draws), to become WK League regular season champions for the 11th consecutive year.
Now, the Red Angels get ready to compete for their 11th straight “overall championship” (regular season 1st place and playoff championship). The 2023 WK League playoffs are scheduled to be held in November in the form of a single match showdown between KSPO and Suwon FC. The team that wins this head-to-head matchup will then face the Red Angels in a home-and-away championship final.
