– British company Umbro signs sponsorship deal with Red Angels to sponsors goods such as uniforms
– Sports brand collaboration expected to further women’s football
Hyundai Steel’s women’s football team the Red Angels, vying for their 10th straight WK League title this year, has signed a sponsorship deal with the British football equipment brand Umbro.
On April 11, Hyundai Steel announced that it has signed an official equipment partnership contract with the famed British football brand. The Hyundai Steel Red Angels players will now wear uniforms with the Umbro logo this season.
The partnership contract with Umbro is meaningful as it is the first brand sponsorship deal ever to be signed by a Korean women’s football team.
Until now, WK League clubs have bought uniforms and equipment on their own. The WK League anticipates that over time, more sports brands will gradually expand collaboration with their teams in the wake of the Umbro sponsorship deal.
This development comes after Hyundai Steel led the advancement of the Korean women’s football infrastructure by introducing the first WK League clubhouse in 2020.
