It’s no secret that the Machinery Team at Incheon Works work as hard as the machines that they maintain, which are running endlessly in a total of ten plants. With teamwork that runs as smoothly as a refined cogwheel, they won both the gold and silver award at the “2021 National Quality Management Convention.” When answering interview questions, the Machinery Team spoke as carefully as if they were fixing a giant piece of equipment. Let’s learn about their strong bond as a team and their intense work in fixing equipment.
The Incheon Works’ Machinery Team is responsible for all the machines and equipment at Incheon Works. Their work has a direct impact on product quality. Ten repair sub-teams and six central maintenance repair sub-teams examine the Incheon Works’ production facilities to maintain the them in the best possible condition. With their sharp eyes, team members identify what is broken inside any of the roaring machines. The Machinery Team, which was formed at the same time as Incheon Works itself, has a long and proud history.
The Machinery Team say they are more detail-focused and sensitive than what their appearance might suggest. They have open minds and are dedicated to the free exchange of ideas. While the heavy cargo and equipment the Machinery Team uses might make them appear rough, they follow a surprisingly detailed review process.
Equipment can malfunction frequently due to small defects or improper assembly. For this reason, the Machinery Team must check things over thoroughly several times, and require much consultation to minimize errors.
During a big repair project, the team members say they feel a huge amount of enthusiasm when the first product is made after their maintenance work is completed. When equipment suddenly malfunctions and the team has to work hard together all night to solve the problem, they feel confident and that they can do anything, like the Avengers.
The biggest priority of the Machinery Team is safety. In January of this year, the Serious Accidents Punishment Act was enforced, making safety a huge topic. The Machinery Team looks out so that all Hyundai Steel employees don’t suffer even a pinprick while in the workplace. The team’s goal is to always do its best to prevent accidents.
The Machinery Team’s biggest advantage is its pride in being the “doctors” of Hyundai Steel. Just like how people receive medical checkups, they prevent malfunctions and inspect equipment to examine and treat machines in advance. The Machinery Team aspires to treat machines just like actual doctors treat people.
