Hyundai Steel Unveils “Steel Recipe” – Ground Rules for a Flexible Company Culture

As part its recent efforts to foster a flexible organizational culture, Hyundai Steel recently unveiled a set of 10 Ground Rules, or the “Steel Recipe,” focusing on subjects like communication and collaboration, engagement and attendance, and work methods.

The Steel Recipe was developed by the Future Board, which is comprised of 16 employees who voluntarily contribute to improving company culture. The Future Board, which has been in existence for three years, has already made many positives changes to Hyundai Steel’s corporate culture. The Future Board spent approximately six months this year brainstorming ideas to create the recently announced corporate culture-specific ground rules. They refined and actualized their ideas by conducting surveys and interviews with other employees.

The recently unveiled 10 corporate culture ground rules address both negative and positive situations that commonly occur across various departments. The rules are presented and structured like a cooking recipe so that they are more relatable to employees. In order to disseminate the Steel Recipe within the company, promotional posters have been put on display in each workplace. Future Board members also produced, and starred, in videos reenacting different situations experienced by employees and addressed them with the new ground rules. The videos are then distributed in an effort to reach as many employees as possible through various channels. (Click to watch video)

In addition, throughout the month of October, starting with Dangjin Integrated Steelworks on October 16 and ending with the Pangyo Office at the end of the month, the Future Board is operating a Steel Recipe promotional booth at all Hyundai Steel locations.

“By continuing activities to promote the Steel Recipe, which is our set of ground rules collaboratively created by Hyundai Steel employees, we will be able to build a better company culture for all,” said the manager behind the project.

Hyundai Steel is continuing to invest in many diverse efforts designed to cultivate a workplace that is enjoyable for all employees. This includes initiatives such as the selection of 102 Change Leaders (CL) last June, aimed at fostering internal professionals who drive positive changes in organizational culture.
