Hyundai Steel Signs MOU With KESCO

On July 27, Hyundai Steel signed an MOU for the exchange of electrical safety technology in the steel sector, with Hyundai Steel President & CEO An Tong-il and CEO Park Ji-hyun of the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation (KESCO) in attendance.

The agreement lays the groundwork for collaboration in six areas: shared growth, disaster prevention, technical support, research cooperation, safety training, and sustainable development.

Under the MOU, Hyundai Steel and KESCO agreed to promote mutual growth through technical exchanges and cooperative efforts in the electrical safety field and to establish a safe steelworks environment by preventing electrical accidents through regular risk assessment.

The two organizations additionally pledged to promote mutual company development by reinforcing their technical cooperation for the investigation and analysis of root causes of electrical equipment accidents and for R&D related to electrical safety measures.

“Through technical collaboration with the Korea Electric Safety Corporation, and by making diverse technical collaborative efforts and active investments, we will not only significantly improve our electrical safety technologies but will also take the lead in building the safest environment in the steel industry,” stated CEO An Tong-il. “We will make every effort to acquire global technological competitiveness in the electrical field.”

“We expect that this partnership with Hyundai Steel will become the cornerstone that will raise safety management standards in Korea’s steel industry facilities to the next level,” said KESCO CEO Park Ji-hyun.
