Hyundai Steel produced a video series in easily understandable terms for the general public, explaining the company’s vision and efforts for eco-friendly steel mills.
The video series kicked off with the release of the first episode called “World’s First Eco-Friendly Blast Furnace Safety Valve” on April 15, and then “A Hydrogen Society Envisioned by Hyundai Steel” on April 27, and finally “Recycling Iron” on May 24.
The videos implement motion graphics, which is an animation technology that transforms and gives movement to static images, presenting difficult steel technology concepts in comprehensible ways to the general public.
The first episode, “Blast Furnace Safety Valve,” explains the development process of the harmful gas blocking technology that guarantees safety and reduces air pollution, while the second episode, “Hydrogen Vision,” explains how hydrogen is made from the gases released as byproducts during the iron mold production process, and presents Hyundai Steel’s aspiration to increase hydrogen production by more than 10 times by 2025. This amounts to 40,000 tons of hydrogen per year that about 200,000 hydrogen fuel-cell Hyundai Nexo cars can use to run for one year. The last episode, “Recycling Iron,” explains the closed-loop process and the sustainability of iron, starting from mining to the blast furnace and electric furnace process.
