Hyundai Steel Publishes First Ever Digital-based Integrated Report

On June 24, Hyundai Steel published “2021 Beyond Steel,” an integrated report that reiterates Hyundai’s commitment to sustainable management.

In the report, the company discussed three goals: “resource recycling economy, sustainable society and responsible business.” At the same time, Hyundai Steel announced the establishment of the Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) system which meets global standards by sharing outcome and realized values in the environment, society and governance sectors.

The integrated report drew attention due to its form as a digital-based web report, a first in the steel industry. The integrated report website is “responsive,” meaning it automatically adjusts to the size of the screen of the accessing device, and all devices (computer, mobile phone, tablet PC, etc.) are enabled convenient access. Also, a separate communication channel greatly enhanced accessibility to ESG information and allowed stakeholders to conveniently propose ideas.

Users can download the entire integrated report, or data for each ESG sector, through the web report, and all quantification data is browsable by field or year. In addition, the company has joined the “carbon footprint reduction campaign” by converting the integrated report that used to be published in printed form to a 100% digital platform to cut down on carbon emissions generated in the process of manufacturing and printing paper.

In the report, President & CEO An Tong-il wrote, “In the past, the competitive edge of a company was determined by its sensitivity to changes in industrial structure and market conditions. Now, its consensus on social values is becoming an essential element,” and added, “All employees at Hyundai Steel will work hard to build a sustainable future for the company.”

Meanwhile, in March, the integrated report won the Gold Prize at the “LACP Vision Awards” hosted by the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) in the United States. Hyundai Steel’s digital integrated report of is available for all to view at ‘https://esg.hyundai-steel.com’.
