Hyundai Steel Employees Participate in Lunar New Year Nanum (Sharing) Humanitarian Activities

Hyundai Steel recently celebrated the Lunar New Year once again by reaching out to its neighbors in need.

As part of the outreach efforts, volunteers from the Dangjin plant delivered 400 gift sets and other goods such as meal kits, valued at a total of around USD 30,000, to local residents and welfare facilities in the city of Dangjin. The meal kits, consisting of traditional Korean food such as bulgogi and tteokguk (New Year’s Day rice cake soup made of white garaetteok in clear broth), were purchased with gift vouchers from local markets, which also helped revitalize the local community markets in need of relief from the COVID-19 induced economic recession. Volunteers from the Incheon plant and Ulsan plant also delivered gift sets of household essentials to individuals and families in need, and purchased and donated gift vouchers that can be used at local markets to stimulate the local economy.

Luna New Year’s Day is a traditional holiday observed in Korea to mark the beginning of the new year in the lunar calendar, and a time when friends and family members gather together to spend time with one another and exchange well wishes of happiness and health for the new year.
