On November 19, Happy Prism – a volunteer group formed by Dangjin Integrated Steelworks staff and their families – held a flower tree planting event at Hanmaeum Park in Dangjin.
About 80 members of the Hyundai Steel’s family volunteer group, Happy Prism, and 20 Dangjin city officials and park facility managers participated in the event for the planting of 20,000 rosebay willowherbs and 1,000 dappled willows in empty spaces around the park.
Rosebay willowherb is a perennial herbaceous plant that blooms early every summer. Dappled willow is a garden tree that is popular in Europe because it is strong enough to withstand cold environments and is clothed in various colors, including light green, white, and pink, throughout the seasons.
“We are sincerely grateful to the volunteers and managers who helped with landscaping in the park,” said a Dangjin official. “We will continue to work hard to create a beautiful environment where diverse organizations and citizens can come to rest and enjoy themselves.”
Happy Prism conducts diverse activities to promote peaceful coexistence within the local community and carbon neutrality. Some of the group’s activities have included: cleaning the marine environment of Janggo Port in April; planting 20,000 trees in Willow Waterside Park, in Maekmun-dong in May; sharing eco-friendly flower pots in September; and planting chrysanthemum flowers at Chungjangsa Temple in October.
