Additionally, five individuals including Director Choi Eun-ho of the Steel Reinforcement Sales Office were rewarded for their contributions in improving the competitiveness of the steel industry.

Ahead of the day’s main event, a conference was held by Minister Moon and senior officials of the Korea Iron & Steel Association, where stabilization of the domestic supply of steel, carbon neutrality, and industrial safety were identified as key issues facing the steel industry. They reached an agreement to enable close cooperation between the government and the business sector to bring about the stabilization of steel supply and demand, and further strengthen Korea’s global competitiveness through carbon neutrality.

It was further decided to increase steel production in order to stabilize and prioritize domestic supply, paying special attention to small and medium enterprises with sourcing issues. Also, with industrial safety as a core value, further investment will be made in preemptive and preventive safety management.
