CEO & Chairman Chung Mong-koo was recently inducted into the U.S. Automotive Hall of Fame. The Automotive Hall of Fame, established in 1939, annually selects award winners for a variety of different honors including Hall of Fame Induction, Industry Leader of the Year, Distinguished Service Citation, and Young Leadership & Excellence Award. This year, the Automotive Hall of Fame also introduced a Mobility Innovator category. Among its annual awards, the most prestigious is the Hall of Fame Induction.
This year’s ceremony will be held in Detroit in July. Previous awardees have included Henry Ford (1967), Thomas Edison (1969), Karl Benz (1984), Soichiro Honda (1989), and Kiichiro Toyoda (2018). The Automotive Hall of Fame has recognized CEO & Chairman Chung Mong-koo as “the leading force in the success of the Hyundai Motor Group and the revitalization of Kia Motors, and the expansion of its business globally, and the construction of a highly efficient business model.” Referring to CEO & Chairman Chung, the institution stated, “He is one of the legends of the motor industry.”
