ISO 22301 is an international certification for ensuring the stable supply of services that is highly regarded by public institutions and IT-related industries. It assesses the ability of a business to recover its core functions and maintain business operations without disruption in the event of accidents, disasters, or emergencies.

Since the end of last year, Hyundai Steel has worked towards obtaining this certification by preparing response manuals and recovery processes for various risk factors and conducting simulation training. After passing a document review and on-site inspection in June, the company successfully obtained the certification. As the first Korean steelmaker to acquire ISO 22301 certification, Hyundai Steel has demonstrated global competitiveness in customer response.

The newly acquired international certification applies to cr products manufactured at Dangjin Integrated Steelworks and Suncheon Works. This means that even if the production of cr steel is disrupted due to natural disasters or accidents at these locations, the company can quickly restore its facilities and personnel to maintain a stable product supply. Considering the difficulties the Korean steel industry faced in supplying products in 2022 due to Typhoon Hinnamnor, Hyundai Steel expects this certification to significantly enhance its customer response capabilities.

“We successfully obtained the international certification by identifying potential risks and implementing a response system for each risk factor to prepare for a range of emergency situations,” a company spokesperson said. “As the first in the Korean steel industry to demonstrate global-level risk management capabilities, we will continue to prioritize providing reliable service to customers.”
