CEO Seo Gang-hyun held a town hall meeting to mark Hyundai Steel’s 71st anniversary
The meeting was Seo Gang-Hyun’s first town hall meeting as CEO, and was attended by over 50 staff members including departments recognized for their cultural consulting, Future Board members, Change Leaders (CL) and research staff. The meeting was also broadcast live online across more than 600 channels and viewed with enthusiasm by individual staff and teams company-wide.
The town hall meeting started with the CEO’s presentation of award plaques to the Health Policy Team and Materials Analysis Team for excellence in cultural consulting, and was followed by a performance by the company’s music club Gamseong Factory.
CEO Seo commenced the event by openly discussing the vision and role of Hyundai Steel, and offered precious words of advice on individual growth to the attending staff, citing his own personal experience.
CEO Seo emphasized the company’s vision of becoming a “sustainable, eco-friendly steelmaker,” stressing that realizing this vision will require preparations appropriate to global carbon neutrality initiatives, as well as further globalization to cope with the ongoing segregation of the steel industry.
The CEO called for creativity- and communication-oriented innovation in the company’s organizational culture as a means to accomplish these objectives.

The meeting continued with sessions aimed at helping attendees get to know the CEO better. They included segments like “SEOch Hyundai Steel,” which explored his personal background, and “Ask the CEO Anything,” where he answered pre-submitted and live questions from attendees. The “Ask the CEO Anything” segment was particularly engaging, covering topics such as the company’s direction and within the Hyundai Motor Group, support systems, and personal tips for balancing work and personal life.
Feedback among attendees was positive, with some saying they “were impressed with the CEO’s approachable manner,” “they felt like having tea with a close company senior,” and that they “had become a fan of the CEO.”
The department responsible for organizing the company’s CEO town hall meetings has established a medium- to long-term implementation process to achieve the company’s organizational culture objective of “mutually beneficial fellowship.” There are plans to further implement and develop a healthy and progress-friendly organizational culture unique to Hyundai Steel.
