Dear Hyundai Steel staff,
As we stand on the threshold of another summer, our company celebrates yet another anniversary this year. This anniversary holds a special significance, as it marks 70 years since our company set sail and embarked on its journey.
Hyundai Steel was launched in 1953 as Korea’s first steelmaker, under the name “Korea Heavy Industry Corporation.” From the very beginning, we diligently produced and supplied steel materials to our war-torn nation, contributing to the reconstruction of our country and promoting economic development.
Later, in the process of overcoming the Asian Financial Crisis ― the worst national crisis after the Korean War ― our acquisition of Hanbo Steel played a crucial role in stabilizing the national economy.
Building on this foundation, we also played a pivotal role in establishing Korea as a steel powerhouse by opening integrated steel mills under the leadership of the private sector.
Since then, and continuing today, Hyundai Steel has been solidifying a position as a leading global steelmaker specializing in automotive materials, operating on the world stage as a part of the Hyundai Motor Group.
Dear associates,
Today, the shift in the industrial paradigm is bringing with it infinite changes and possibilities. However, this carries a critical constraint, which is the imperative of achieving carbon neutrality and energy transformation.
In the face of such challenges, we must maintain a sense of mission and contribute to the progress of human society with the unwavering spirit of the past 70 years, and be fully prepared to open up a new future.
Just as our history has been written over the years, I hope that every line of our future history is etched with pride, and each and every page filled with contents that move our hearts.
I humbly ask all of you to unite in spirit and wisdom, so that we can act as protagonists of the new history that is being written.
On this morning of our 70th anniversary, as we encourage each other and celebrate our past achievements, let us envision the ideal path for us to take in the future.
