Hyundai Steel recently held the “Walk-to-Give Campaign,” participated in by Hyundai employees, through which it was able to donate mobility aids to 22 children with disabilities.
As part of the event, customized mobility aids were delivered to children with disabilities in Incheon, Pohang, Dangjin, Suncheon, and Ulsan where Hyundai Steel offices are located.
The “Walk-to-Give Campaign” is part of the greater “More Steps, More Heart” program, which was organized by Hyundai employees in September 2022 and has been going strong ever since.
Held under the slogan, “The More We Walk, The More Our Love Comes Together,” the campaign began with the goal of raising KRW 50 million (USD 38,000), which corresponded to employees walking 100 million steps.
However, by the end of the 12-day campaign, which ran from September 19 to 30 last year, Hyundai Steel employees had walked 220 million steps—more than double their original goal of 100 million steps!
In cooperation with the Purme Foundation, a nonprofit organization that helps the disabled with rehabilitation and self-reliance, the KRW 50 million raised through the campaign was used for the production and delivery of mobility devices that allow young children with disabilities to go out and move about safely.
The mobility devices manufactured as part of the campaign were designed specifically to meet the physical needs of each recipient. The manufacturer personally visited the home of each child so that measurements could be made and a mobility device could be crafted according to the specific needs of each individual child.
“Families who have children with disabilities often have a great financial burden because they need to keep purchasing different mobility devices as their children grow,” said the Purme Foundation. “This Walk-to-Give Campaign held by Hyundai Steel will have a significant, positive impact on families who have children with disabilities.”
Hyundai Steel plans to continue the “More Steps, More Heart” campaign into the year 2023.
