Last month, the Mobility Material Business Division held an event commemorating its implementation of a carbon-neutral steel logistic system in accordance with the “2050 Korea Carbon Neutrality Vision.” The division began a test operation of hydrogen fuel-cell electric trucks, marking the first time such vehicles were developed and operated by anyone in the Korean steel industry.
Hydrogen fuel-cell electric trucks do not emit carbon and have an added advantage of not requiring urea solution, thus making them more economically feasible than diesel trucks.
The Mobility Material Business Division plans to achieve its two goals of reducing logistics costs and achieving carbon neutrality by permanently using hydrogen fuel-cell electric trucks to transport mobility parts produced in the Ulsan plant along seven different short- and medium-distance routes.
